May 17, 2011, Moscow. Game Insight reports that Paradise Island, a free game application with in-app purchases, is currently the most profitable application on Android Market.
Paradise Island snatched first place on Android Market’s Top Grossing App chart on the very day of its launch, and has continued to hold this position in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and other 5 countries.
When Game Insight launched Paradise Island for the Android on April 16, 2011, it marked the company’s long-awaited arrival to the Android application market. However, the game’s iOS version had already become a hit after launching November of 2010, having taken the 7th spot in terms of profitability on Apple’s AppStore chart.
Game Insight attributes its success with Paradise Island for the Android to the company’s “Freemium” monetization strategy. The Freemium strategy (in-app purchases) is aimed at introducing premium quality applications to hundreds of millions of users for free. Paradise Island, which was launched on Android Market immediately after the introduction of in-app purchases on the platform, epitomizes the Freemium strategy, and for this reason immediately became a market leader.
Game Insight is currently planning on stepping up its Freemium strategy with the introduction of new games to be released on Android Market and at the AppStore. Details will be posted on the company’s website.
